Our student health office aims to promote the health and well being of the HCA community. We provide emergency care, assessment and intervention with health issues, medication administration, health counseling and routine health screenings (ie: height and weight, vision and hearing, scoliosis and hypertension for students in grades 5 - 8 without an annual physical on file).
Parents should be sure to notify the school of any serious, chronic health problems, diabetes, epilepsy, severe life-threatening allergies, etc., so that appropriate attention may be given to a student.
Mrs. Borkoski is always available to discuss any health concerns you may have regarding your child so please do not hesitate to contact her at any time. Please be assured that your child's privacy is of our utmost concern.
We ask our parents to use your best, cautionary judgement when sending potentially sick or contagious children to school.
Should your child have a fever or rash, complain of a sore throat with or without a fever, or any other warning signs, it is advisable to consult your physician. Please notify myself or the school office of any contagious disease and keep your child home until your physician gives you permission to do so.
Please note the following, common conditions amongst our school age population:
Please do not send medication of any kind, prescription or over the counter, to school with your child. This includes aspirin, asper gum and throat lozenges. NJ State Law does not allow school nurses to dispense medication without a doctor’s order. Please contact the school nurse if your child must take prescribed medication during the school hours. She will inform you of the necessary procedures.
A number of our students are severely allergic to peanuts and/or tree nuts. It is very important that they not be exposed to nuts, products containing nuts or anything processed in a place where nuts may be used.
I am asking for your help in assuring that Holy Cross Academy is a safe environment for these children. Please send your child to school with nut free lunches and snacks. This is especially important in the classroom where space is limited. We will continue to have a nut free table in the lunchroom.
